Final Blog: Goodbye Grange Hill!

So that’s it! Get your tissues out because Grange Hill is now officially over. The last series saw some of the most memorable episodes ever from the mystery masked skateboarding figure of Boarderman to the slave auction with Chloe and Andrea to the very special visitor in the last episode.

Episode Twenty: Out With a Bang!

It's the last day of term at Grange Hill and it’s the school prom. Will the year end with a bang?!

With the prom comes the need for a date, so Ed and Tigger go on the Hill Space dating website in search of their perfect match. When Clooney becomes jealous of the potential partners Ed and Tigger get, he recruits Gyngell to help him win over his girl!

The cast behind the stars of this episode the actors who play Clooney, Ed and Tigger all feature in the last Backstage Video of the series, talking about what they most enjoy on Grange Hill. You can now watch this last ever episode of the series on the iPlayer!

Other matters of the heart in this season finale see Alex struggling to ask Sammy out to the dance.

Theo, Laxo and XS hear of a secret sewer from Abel and Togger, and set off to find out if it really exists. Clooney and Gyngell join the gang and the whole situation could be truly explosive!

Episode Nineteen: Zut Alors!

Tigger is once again on the look out for love and this week his attention turns to a French exchange student – oooh la la!

Episode Eighteen: Virtual Reality

If there’s one thing the teachers at Grange Hill are good at, then it’s banning things!

This week, Kathy bans war games from being played on the Community Learning Centre’s computers, when some of the Year 8s tell Patsy, a Year 7, to get off a PC.

Talking of computers, Mia and Darcy, who play Chloe and Andrea, discuss the internet in this week’s Backstage Video. In the current episode, Jenny takes pity on Patsy, but Lucy is suspicious of her, especially when Patsy tells them her Dad’s a spy!

Theo and Laxo think the Year 8s are being mean to Patsy, so they want to settle the matter on the battlefield - eek!

Episode Seventeen: Where’s the Justice?

Birthdays are supposed to be a time of celebration. But when it seems that everyone’s forgotten Chloe’s special day she does what she does best… bully.

On the receiving end of Chloe’s bullying is poor Serena, who gets picked on for her dyslexia. Alex, keen to impress Sammy, tries in his own special way to make Chloe pay for her ways.

Elsewhere in the latest episode, Miss Green doesn’t approve of Alex’s tactics. She admires what he’s trying to do, so she confronts Chloe herself. But will this approach change anything?

Episode Sixteen: Under a Spell

How strange? This week in Grange Hill there’s wrestling going on and Chloe and Andrea aren’t involved in it. In fact, they’re too busy thinking about a spelling contest!

Even Jonathan, who plays Gyngell is getting to grips with wrestling in our latest Backstage Video. You can also watch Alex trying to get revenge on Chloe in the Spoiler Video of next week’s episode, as well as viewing this week’s spelling and wrestling themed episode on the iPlayer.

Mrs Rawlinson discovers that Andrea has a gift and swiftly enters her for a spelling competition! Chloe doesn’t approve and thinks it a bit lame, but her attitude only makes Andrea even more determined to win.

Tigger buys a load of wrestling videos, which turn out to have a surprising influence on Alex and Ed as they ‘fight’ over the attention of Sammy. But is all as it seems? See the latest photos here!

Episode Fifteen: Who Are You?

When describing Grange Hill bullies Chloe and Andrea, slaves would be one of the last words to come to mind. But that’s exactly what they are in this week’s episode!

One half of the school takes part in a ‘Slave Auction’, to raise money for the school. The other half of the school takes part in a ‘Who Are You’ project, in which they describe themselves to friends. Sam, who plays, Clooney, is part of the slave project, and he features in this week’s Backstage Video. No slavery going on there though!

You can also watch some wrestling in a Spoiler Video for next week’s episode, as well as catching the current slave auction episode on the iPlayer.

Chloe and Andrea get involved in the slave project, thinking that no-one will bid for them, so they’ll be able to skive for the day. Their plan goes wrong when Clooney and Gyngell show interest in them! The auction also causes Tigger to make some unexpected friends.

But Rachel seems strangely distracted from the ‘Who Are You’ project. Could it be something to do with Frank, the old guy who Kathy can’t seem to shift from the Community Learning Centre?

Episode Fourteen: Gift Rapped

Everyone loves a school trip and the kids at Grange Hill are no different. Excitement’s in the air when some of the pupils get to go the European Capital of Culture 2008… Liverpool!

Elsewhere, Bryn and Ducket tell Lucy that Togger’s going to ask Tanya a ‘big’ question! Lucy tries to stop this from happening.

The actor who plays Togger, Chris Perry-Metcalf, is the subject of our Backstage Video. Mia and Darcy AKA Chloe and Andrea just can’t stop talking about boy wonder! In the current episode, Tigger’s favourite band Crew 82 happen to be playing a secret gig in Liverpool, but he’s been banned from the trip, so he’s sneaks on the coach! Chloe discovers him though… will she tell on him? Catch photos here!

Episode Thirteen: The GH Factor

Grange Hill hits all the right notes this week, as the school hosts a music competition!

For the winning musical act, there’s a £200 cash prize plus a trip to Liverpool, European Capital of Culture 2008, up for grabs. Competition between the students is tense.

Dequaine and Tom (who play Theo and Laxo) are talking music in the latest Backstage Video. You can now watch a Spoiler Video from next week’s episode and see some of the pupils larging it in Liverpool. Also, watch the current music themed episode on the iPlayer.

Jenny’s determination to win the Liverpool 08 competition affects her friendship with Jake.

Ducket and Bryn are keen to enter the contest too, but Jenny points out one major flaw in their plan. They have no musical talent whatsoever! The boys shrug this off, they're not going to let a little thing like that get in their way!

Meanwhile, Bryn’s advice to little sister Megan is taken the wrong way and causes her to fall out with Serena completely…

Episode Twelve: Veggin Out


This week some of the attendants of Grange Hill are acting like animals. And that’s because they are!

Lucy suddenly becomes a vegetarian and everyone wonders why, before she admits it’s because of her Dad’s new job. The job leads Lucy to start a demonstration with a difference, as she plans to save the animals at Farmer Greg’s.

Tigger has come to a decision, he doesn’t need a girl, he needs a woman. Jack, who plays Tigger, is also talking women in the Backstage Video. Episode Eleven: Building Bridges

There’s no ‘I’ in ‘Team Grange Hill’. Well, ok, there is… but the pupils at Grange Hill seem to have forgotten about helping one another.

Alex is in a panic about his forthcoming science exam. The Community Learning Centre is closed, so Alex has nowhere to cram in revision. Cue Sammy to calm him down.

Episode Ten: Schmutts

It’s a dog’s life in Grange Hill, because in this episode everyone seems to be going pooch crazy!

Jenny’s sick of looking after her dog Rory and plans to take him back to the dog’s home – aaaaaghh!

In another dog-related incident, Laxo and Theo are roped into helping Laxo’s Auntie organise a charity pedigree dog show being held in the Community Learning Centre.

The antics of Rory inspire Laxo and Theo to stage their own dog show with a difference, ‘Scruffs’. The winner is the dog that’s the worst behaved. So will Rory’s behaviour for once save him, or will Lucy’s dog Lenny or Laxo’s Auntie’s dog Chiquitita prove stiff opposition?

Our Backstage stars, Chloe and Andrea are up to their usual tricks, but this time they’ve got a four-legged friend to help them…

Episode Nine: Extra Terrestri-Hill


We all know things at Grange Hill are strange, but believe it or not, they’re about to get stranger!

Kathy introduces Bryn and Ducket to 'Extra Terrestrial Hunt', an online programme actively looking for life beyond our planet. From here, things just get weird with a capital ‘w’! In our Backstage Video Joe and Michael, who play Bryn and Ducket are looking for ladies. You can also watch a Spoiler Video of next week’s canine capers episode too, as well as the latest eerie episode on the iPlayer.

Bryn’s computer in the Community Learning Centre starts to go a bit crazy, which is followed by a loud noise and a mysterious lightshow from outside. And when Ducket and Lucy don’t show up at school the day next, Bryn and Rachel fear the worst – an alien abduction!

The eerie factor is cranked up to the max, when a peculiar man claims he knows what’s happening at the school. Is it somehow linked to Alex’s destroyed vegetable patch? Check out the photos here!

Episode Eight: You’re Nicked


Grange Hill receives an art attack this week, when a performance artist visits the school and makes their mark.

A case of mistaken identity leads to a bit of fame (and confusion!) for a pensioner visiting the Community Learning Centre.

When the students realise who the actual artist is, Chloe and Andrea start to panic. Could their thieving antics finally be coming to an end? Will they end up in the slammer? Sam, who plays Clooney, will certainly be hoping they end up in jail, so they can’t get hold of his pocket money! That’s what he talks about in our latest Backstage Video. Episode Seven: Buddy Hell

Grange Hill welcomes visiting Year Six pupils with open arms. Or at least that’s what they’re supposed to do!

Head Boy and Head Girl, Togger and Tanya, are told by Mrs Rawlinson to make a good impression on the youngsters. Not every pupil follows their good example though!

Chloe and Andrea greet Year Six students Serena and Megan (Bryn’s sister) with some bullying.

Having been a bully last year, Alex is determined to show his new caring side by helping out the young visitors to Grange Hill. Alex, played by Josh, is the star of our latest Backstage Video and talks about his ideal acting roles! Episode Six: The Thing About Mates


Poor Alison. It’s her birthday this week and she thinks that no-one’s remembered it.

Ed, Alex and Tigger feel guilty about forgetting her birthday, so they all set about planning their own surprises for her. More on that later!

Talking of friendships, Andrea’s relationship with Chloe is put to the test when she is told to prove her worth as a mate… or else! Andrea’s trip to the dentist doesn’t help matters. Episode Five: Food Fight

Footballers, eh? They’ve got it all. A fun job, the fame, loads of money, but they haven’t got the adoration of the students at Grange Hill!

Ambassadors of Grange Hill, Tanya and Togger are given the task of looking after ex-pupil and football star Dwayne Miller. Time for the rest of Grange Hill to sabotage proceedings!

Dwayne visits the school to promote his new cookery book, but Jenny’s not impressed and wants to teach him a lesson. Talking of cookery, Tom and Dequaine (who play Laxo and Theo) are in our latest Backstage Video discussing school dinners. Not everyone’s against the footballer though. Rachel and Lucy take quite a fancy to him, and for some reason Bryn decides to help the star.

Episode Four: Double Cross Country


Not many people like cross-country and the students of Grange Hill are no different!

Chloe and Andrea get into all sorts of outrageous escapades, as they try and do anything to avoid taking part in the Grange Hill cross-country run. You can see what Mia and Darcy (who play Chloe and Andrea) think of their adventures in our Backstage Video. Like Chloe and Andrea, Alex, Ed, and Tigger don’t much like cross country either! In fact, they try their own special way to avoid running the race. Alison and Sammy maybe impressed by their antics, but will Mr. McDonnell think?

Kathy has given Laxo and Theo the task of filming the race. There will be plenty of action for them to cover, that’s for sure!

In this episode you also get the chance to meet two new Year 7s – Clooney and Gyngell. Clooney likes the ladies, while Gyngell is far more comfortable with Star Trek!

Episode Three: Election Special

It’s election time in Grange Hill and the students are battling it out to become Head Boy and Head Girl.

The Posh and Becks of Grange Hill, Tanya and Togger, are hoping for a double electoral victory. To help them succeed, they recruit their siblings. But Jenny and Lucy are at each other’s necks, and aren’t helping at all! Will this affect Tanya and Togger’s campaign? Only time will tell.

In this week’s Backstage Video we introduce you to Sam, the fresh-faced youngster who plays Clooney. He’ll be in next week’s episode, which is all about cross-country and you can see a sneak preview of that episode in our Spoiler Video. You can also watch episode 3’s election madness on the iPlayer. Meanwhile, back in the Community Learning Centre, Kathy is running a project for the Year Six pupils. The children are asked to report on the election for their own website. What scandals will they unveil?

Episode Two: Boarderman

Accidents do happen, and when they happen in Grange Hill they lead to all manner of mischief!

Skateboarding is banned in school when Theo is involved in an accident that causes Lucy and Rachel’s computer game to smash.

Lucy starts a campaign to ban all sports in the schoolyard, so Laxo sets up his own campaign… ‘Set Skateboarding Free’.

The two tearaways from this episode, Dequaine and Tom (who play Theo and Laxo) are the stars of this week’s Backstage Video and they’re talking about sport.

But, back to the story! Theo and Laxo aren’t the only ones distracted by the campaign, as a masked skateboarding hero then shows up, but who is it? Ed and Tigger nickname this mystery figure ‘Boarderman’, but can Boarderman change the mind of Mr. McDonnell to allow skateboarding in Grange Hill once again? Look at these photos of Boarderman!

Episode One: New Beginnings

Things have changed at Grange Hill over the summer, online as well as on screen!

Mr. McDonnell is now the Deputy Head, the Humphries brothers have left and Kathy is now a member of staff (but she’s still ok).

Some things never change though. The Johnsons are still tearing around the place and Tigger, Alex and Ed are causing as much mayhem as ever.

We’ve got a Backstage Video with Jack (Tigger) and Alex (Ed) who are talking about the coolest peeps on Grange Hill!

New on the Grange Hill scene is Bryn’s new friend Ducket, who’s a bit different! Abel’s younger brother, Theo, is also a fresh face in school.
